EXPERIMENTAL FILM &Â PROJECT OF RESEARCH
This exhibit is at first an experimental space of research for a transversal experience, because it moves from the body to words and sounds, between texts and textiles and writing, from empty spaces to traces. Its intention is above all an experiment to explore in time and space the ideas of interlude, suspense, silence and distance. Not those which separate, but those which unite. It is in this spirit that artists from diverse and convergent horizons come together for a new interpretation of the concept of « MA Space ». They propose to interact around the « univers of the void » and our never ending though never achieving efforts to say and to be.
Lâespace MA (MA Space) is the idea of Space-Time relating things by giving them sense; it is the truth in the void between the words, between the lines; it is the pause, the interruption, the inaction between to movements, the silence between two words. MA Space is the power of the invisible, it is active immobility, full emptiness, the ability to develop the inner life as a form of being. Because it is the foundation of artistic creativity.

SYNOPSIS OF THE FILM
As the consequence of a collaborative project, the film âSemantics of the Voidâ is the product of an experimental performative research on the theme of the void and the inexpressible; it takes its source in the transversal potential of symbolic notational languages.
âSemantics of the Voidâ is a quest into the trace, the sign, and the primal character of the body. The Sign becomes âembodiedâ, while the body becomes Sign. In the process the film attempts to give shape to a new, an unknown language. It journeys towards the elusive, and explores a plurality of sense in search of an absolute âSayingâ.
Wandering along an unknowable trace, in the form of suspended threads as moving vertical axes, the film unfolds in timeless slowness, guided by a texture of sound, which is also its materialization. Like in a tableau vivant or hypnotic painting, the observer is taken towards interstices where âsomething unseenâ becomes visible, for instance the silence between lines, between words, or during a pause, suspension, the inaction between two movements… A space is found, where an invisible weave unfolds in an in-between, an un-said and a no-where: It is the space of passage, of silence, of distance. Not one that separates, but one that (re)unites.
By exploring these ruptures, as disconcerting as they are creative, the plot of the film translates an active immobility, a full void. The language, which first came here to deconstruct and lose itself, finds itself multiplied in another dimension. Ultimately, it makes the signs come alive in space, sew together the words through the writing of the body, and recreate the vertical trace or the primordial letter of the origin and of the end, inscribed in itself.
Le film is, like a mise en scene, a âmise en langageâ, or a formulation in several dimensions. It reflects the traces of a forever-unfinished process, like our eternal attempts to be, to say and to exist… Which is the very foundation of artistic creation.

HISTORY OF THE PROJECTÂ
Semantics of the Void is a multi-dimensional project that began during an artistic residency at the Cunst Link gallery-workshop in Brussels in June 2019. The multidisciplinary artist Sandie Brischler initiated this research, in collaboration with three other artists: Nathalie Lenoir (contemporary dance and pole dance), Ariane Livadiotis and Emilie Bouchez (textile-design).
This transversal creative experience had as its theme âemptiness, the invisible and the unspeakableâ, with at its foundation a corpus of unfinished texts, and an exhibition of âNotationsâ, graphic works by Sandie Brischler, based on the deconstruction of writing.
Semantics of the Void is a research experiment on the trace, the sign, and the primal character of the human body, the initial signal articulating ourselves in the flesh. The project translates itself in a space âin betweenâ, by several levels of interactions in various forms of expressions, which resonate in the form of âincorporationsâ: Paper and textile installations, dance, sound and vocal explorations, weaving, performances between trace and integration of the body in the universe of the signifier.
Subsequently, a film (of the same name) retraces this creative process and its stages. The 52 minutes experimental documentary offers a restitution and synthesis of the project, leaving at the same time a unique trace, bringing together all these moments of interaction, these âweavingsâ, enriching its meaning.
An exploratory space par excellence, through the probing of symbolic languages, Semantics of the Void questions the creative process from the inside and attempts a process of materialization of the unspeakable… in search of an absolute verb, finally capable of saying.
