Body-Writing II (2010)

Body-Writing IV is an interdisciplinary performance at the intersection of body and movement, drawing and graphic action, video projection and sound. In this performance, the body engages in graphic action and becomes a sign itself: The spontaneity of gesture and intuitive movement develop like a  grammar of the body on paper, in relation to space and sound. Between traces and attempts at formulation, signs and language, physical writing, organic writing, the body becomes an « act of writing » and traces its history on large rolls of white paper. Words function as « prostheses » for the body: They are its structure, they reunite it, they are its symbolic reconstruction.

The work created during the performance (its result) remains as a testimony and can also be exhibited beyond the performance.

  •  Video  : The projection of the works “Lists of Words  ” (original drawings by the artist) interacts with the body, making it for a moment a printable or “impressionable” surface. The weight of words is confronted with the fragility of the body. The body is white like paper, black like writing. The body becomes Word.
  • Sound  : The “  Trilogy of Death  ” (part 1, Kyema), an experimental minimalist sound work. Composer: Eliane Radigues
